You are looking live at sold-out RFK stadium.
Ahh those were the days....
Here at the galactic headquarters of Commonprejudice we welcome you back to another season of demonstrating who not to pick as you select your games during the NFL season.
Actually, you know what? This won't be the case. Like the Redskins we will rebound this year. You can take that to the bank. In fact, why don't we open with the ...
Thursday
New Orleans +6 at Indy
Everybody and their colt is taking the Colts here. But Drew Brees had perhaps the best preseason out of any quarterback and I like the Saints a lot this year, so lay it down on the Saints (if of course betting were legal).
SAINTS
Sunday
Miami +3 at Washington
In the immortal words of David Puddy, gotta support the team! And if the last game was a bank then this one we will give

Skins
(Only valid at participating outlets)
KC +3 at Houston
Houston opens up as a three point favorite against the Chiefs? Herm, herm herm (sounds kinda funny when you say that out loud) Anyway, all indications are that Chiefs do indeed suck and Schaub is lookin' sharp.
Texans
Denver -3 at Buffalo
I think that Losman kid shows a lot of gumption and acumen, a little pluck, and a whole bunch of mettle (with even a tad of spunk and wherewithal).
Bills
Pittsburgh -4.5 at Cleveland
Stay away from the Browns until Quinn gets a couple of starts under his belt - which should begin in about 2 weeks. Meanwhile I like the Steelers to make the play-offs this year.
Steelers
Tennessee + 6.5 at Jacksonville
Remember the Jags easy schedule last year. I think they are overrated. And good teams don't dump their supposed starter the week before the season begins and hope to carry on like all is well (even if it was move that probably should have been made months ago). Also, Fisher is one of the best coaches in the league and the Titans will be ready. In fact, the Titans will not only cover but win which means this game is the
Titans
Carolina +1 at St. Louis
Carolina will not be a good team.
Rams
Philadelphia -3 at GB
I have a sneaking suspicion the Eagles are overrated this year. But the magic of Lambeau has disappeared like Bush after Katrina. And Favre ...oy vey.
Eagles
Atlanta +3 at Minnesota
We now turn to LaBill who calls the Falcons his Mega-Sleeper, citing the Ewing theory. I really do agree and have been thinking the same for awhile now. And I will even help out. Starting at qb for Atlanta is Joe Harrington. Don't you like their chances even more now?

Falcons (big)
New England -6.5 at N.Y. Football Jets.
Take the points.
Football Jets
Tampa Bay +6 Seattle
Bye, bye Gruden. Thanks for the Super Bowl
Seahawks
Chicago -6 at San Diego (sorry i mean plus 6)
This is the NBC game of the week.
Bears (Is this in bad taste?)
Detroit +1.5 at Oakland
Call me crazy.
Well, whatever it is I think the Lions might be ok this year and I think Kitna will put up some very good numbers. They start here.
Lions
New York/New Jersey American Football Giants +5.5 at Dallas Silly Nannies
I see both teams losing this one convincingly.
Tie
...not a good pick? Ok I'll take the Silly Nannies.
Monday
Baltimore +2.5 at Cincinnati
With great pain I take the Bengals.
Arizona +3 at San Francisco
I think this is the Cards year. They've got the wide receivers, a new coach and a solid young qb.... ya gotta like the Cards.
49ers
First Week Bonus
a cookie. No. just kidding. I'm too hungry. Instead I'll give my play-off predictions.
NFC
Wildcards: Redskins (is there any doubt?), Rams
Division winners: New Orleans, Chicago, Philadelphia, Seattle
Champion: New Orleans
AFC
Wildcards: Pittsburgh, Cincinnati
Division Winners: New England, San Diego, Indy, Baltimore
Champion: San Diego
Super Bowl: New Orleans
Update: Tonight - you know how the Colts scraped through with that victory over N.O. - is what we call in the business a very inauspicious start. Nevertheless an iron clad guarantee trumps a bank, doesn't it. Doesn't it? I SAID, DOESN'T IT!?!?!
The Vikings performance was no illusion....
they have a DEFENCE and they have no offence (unless Adrian Peterson turns out to be the greatest rookie of all time).
Last year they were tops in run defence and last in pass defence.....this year they may have a little bit better set of linebackers and secondary....but they will drool at the Brady - Moss highlight reels each week....
Perhaps they should sign Culpepper?????????????? Or Leftwich??????????
Seems like the Bills Everett moved a few limbs today....hope the doctors were wrong...
My (posthumous) picks (against the spread)for week 1 (so you can keep track):
New Orleans
Washington
K.C.
Buffalo
Pittsburgh
Tennessee
Carolina
Philadelphia
Minnesota
New England
Seattle
San Diego
Oakland
Giants
Baltimore
Arizona
One more thing: Change the theme on this blog - the black writing on maroon in the middle section is impossible to read on my cheap monitor.
